"Look at this photograph...  Every time I do it makes me laugh."

As I was sifting my way through the endless tracks of the facebook world, I stumbled upon a wonderful sight. As soon as I saw them I new I had to do a xanga post and let all the rest of you see how much some of us have all grown in three small years. So here's to you quizzers that made 2004 a ball and I hope you all enjoy this.

P.S. Muchos thanks to Rachel for the pics. You rock Don!

THE FANTASTIC FOUR... Part deux.

My fam has now come and gone (huge, monstrous SNIFF right here). As before mentioned we had a total blast and things were sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo great with them here. I only have six days now until I head home and see them. I'm totally looking forward to it and until then I keep myself occupied doing random thing like twiddling my thumbs, taking mass self portraits, and singing "This is the Song that Never Ends". Thrilling huh? Well... I'm only half kidding. I have been doing those things but I have also had a blast with the folks here doing things like staying up late watching Band of Brothers (it's just as good the second time Karen), consuming mass amounts of coffee, and listening to Nat King Cole. Anyways... I thought that before I leave for home (and my non-existent computer). I would do another xanga post. So here is to one of the greatest things in life... family.

Monegg at Cafe Vienna in The Marriot (the ritziest hotle in Bucharest).

Zay and I napping in Constantsa (a port on the Black Sea).

An actual Grande, iced, caramel macchiato!  WE FINALLY FOUND A STARBUCKS IN THIS NATION! Yup... and there is only one. Thank God for the Plaza Mall!

My pretty darn cool sis.

Good times.

ROAD TRIP...

Well... my family has arrived and the Fantastic Four have now hit Romania! We got to take a road (or train) trip as just the four of us out to Predeal, Sainia, and Sighisoara. Wow... what a trip. Just imagine for a moment will ya, the idea of Zay unleashed on the unsuspecting, and unknowing, Romanian public. I'm pretty sure that he is now on the Interpol's most wanted list (and you all think I'm kidding). This weekend goes down in history as one of the best I have ever had. So without further ado, here are some pictures from the trip, and (ahem) viewer discretion is advised... the following pictures contain images of more fun than any human should be allowed to have (wink).

The Fantastic Four

The Zay

Bowling at the Bowling Passion (a funny little place in Predeal with only two lanes and a great name). Ummm... I'm not posting the scores, they were pretty embarrassing.

During one of the many train rides. On this one they ran out of second class seats so we got bumped up to first class and got to eat in the dining car. Notice that Zay put on his "good" face for this pic.

Monegg with his camera.

Making a valiant attempt at reading Romanian.

The inside of a Catholic church in Sighisoara (the city where Count Dracula was born).

A covered, outdoor staircase in Sighisoara that was built in the 1600's.

It was a wonderful vacation with lots of great memories. Things happened like Zay loosing his ticket and getting chewed out by the conductor, Sarah made friends (ahem) with a mentally slow guy who gave her a radish as a token of his affection, we climbed monuments, leaned out of moving trains, came up with new nicknames (Zay got blessed with the name of Dutchess Von Teschen... don't ask), toured castles, spent a lot of money, and made "memorable" moments in Count Dracula's house. Cool huh?

MORE ROMANIA...

Well my dear readers, hopefully this post will be a little more enjoyable than the last one. There is no dog flavored coke (I can hear the relieved sighs and see the tears of joy streaming down cheeks)!!! This is actually a nice post and will hopefully give you all a good taste of Romania. Most of the pictures were taken during spring break up in the northwest of the country. It was a GREAT time and we got to see some wonderful cities. There are pictures here of  Timisoara and Oradia. They were both wonderful places and I hope I get to go back to visit them again sometime.I also got to visit Sibiu, Arad, and Deva but I'll post some pics of them later. I hope ya'll like the pics!

A monastery in Oradia named The Holy Cross.

The inside of the chapel there.

One of the many murals that adorned the inside of the chapel.

This is probably my favorite picture of the monastery (even though it is a little noisy). I was totally lucky to have a flock of birds fly into the picture right as I was taking the shot.

One of the gates in downtown Oradia (as you can tell, I'm getting hooked on black and white).

A church near the center of Oradia.

This was a totally cool fountain that came up out of the ground in the middle of one of the cobblestone streets. So of course (as anyone with any common sense will tell you) that the proper thing to do is to gloriously run throughout the fountain, making noise, and trying to guess where the water will come up next (to avoid appearing as though you wet your pants). So, of course, I did it! Then in the hight of my joyous adventure I turn around and realize that nobody else came with me. WAAAAHHH! It really made me miss my family (who know the protocols for fountain hopping), and it made me wet (oops).

The Theater House (Yeah... I REALLY like black and white).

Another church on Oradia.

These next few pics are of Timisoara, which is an absolutely beautiful city and I really want to go back again. Yet again this a another church. It baffled me how many exquisite churches there are here in Romania, but with the majority of the population being orthodox it kinda explains it.

A fun shot that I took while sitting at a cafe in one of the coolest malls that I have ever been too (yeah... another black and white). Some of the greatest and most memorable moments of my life have been spent in cafes and coffee shops. In fact I actually judge a city on how nice their cafes are. Timisoara gets five stars. I have a ton of other pictures that are pretty cool, but I know that this is getting a little lengthy as it is already. Hope ya'll liked it and that is gives you a good taste of some of Romania. Big thanks once again to Seth for his camera and gear. God bless and say in touch eveybody!

P.S. Muchos apologies about not being able to comment on all of your sites. Hopefully I'll play catch up when I get home.

ROMANIAN EXPERIENCES...

Well folks... I thought I would fill you all in on some of the really bizarre and interesting experiences here in Romania (No, the fact that I can't get the font worked out isn't one of them).

So our first exhibit is...

DOG FLAVORED COKE

Yup, you heard right. We all went to, what appeared to be, a really nice restaurant today for coffee. When they brought out the stuff it didn't look all that bad, but a distinct smell was noticed coming form the coke bottles (which was noticed after the coke was drunk). Yup, it was wet dog. So in honor of the odd moment I decided to take some pics and do a post on it.

Peter: Yeah, coke!      Nik: I hate you.

Peter: This smells!     Nik: I hate you.

Unfortuanately I had a couple of other pics too that would have made this a little more interesting of a post, but this computer isn't uploading them (grrrrr). Also the coke didn't actually taste like wet dog but the bottle was totally nasty. Fun huh?
